The Rotary Club of Greenwich was founded in 22nd February 1926 and was chartered on 14th April 1926. It is one of the oldest registered charity organizations in the Greenwich borough.
We meet each week on Thursdays, enjoy a lunch and fellowship. The club has several service committees who take responsibility for our charitable aims such as Community Service a well as International Service. All members are expected to take an active part in our fundraising projects, such as the Makro store collection that we organise each Christmas. At other times of the year we man the Horne Fayre beer tent, stage a “Stroke Awareness” day at Asda store Greenwich, where professionals offer to take blood pressure for the public and offer medical advice. We organise 2-3 garden parties during the summer to raise funds for charitable use.
Our social activities or “Fellowship” are numerous with day visits as well as evening social events. A formal “Presidents dinner” is held as well as Christmas and mid summer dinners with our spouses and partners. |
